Last Minute Photo and Twitter Tips for Your Event

March 23rd, 2011 Comment

Wordpress BBQ Hashtag sign

Last minute Twitter tips.

  1. Use the #twestival hashtag on ALL your tweets.
  2. You can use your own local hashtag too, just make sure everyone knows it and remind the of twitter name (eg @LDNTwestival) for your event. Our suggestion: write it on big signs on the walls.
  3. We're going to be tracking the Twitter stream during our VOKLE livestream so say hi and join the conversation.
Photos
  1. We like Flickr a lot. It's open and public.
  2. Post photos to your own account and tag them "Twestival"
  3. Then add them to the Twestival Flickr pool flickr.com/groups/twestival.
  4. Or add your best photos to facebook.com/twestival
  5. Again, use big signs to let people at your event know how to tag photos.
  6. Encourage local photographers to come along and let them know about the Twestival pool.
  7. People will be using services like Instagram and TwitPic during the event,  remind them to tag using #twestival.
Video
  1. If you're shooting video, simply upload it to Vimeo or YouTube and remember to tag with Twestival
  2. Then post it on our Facebook wall, and of course your own!
  3. And make sure you tag all your friends who appear in it.

Got some more tips for us? We'd love to hear so add them below.

All local organisers will need to take part is a fast Internet connection, a computer with a webcam or external camera/microphone and headphones and you can be a part of history.

To register your interest please fill out this form. And local organisers can access full details of how we are going to use Vokle on our Huddle space

To help you get setup and streaming in advance of the 24th, we're running a number of hands on and inclusive demos. The next is Wednesday March 16th at 12.30pm GMT.

Fundraising

We have now have partnered with some great fundraising platforms around the world. JustGiving (UK), FirstGiving (US), CanadaHelps, GiveIndia, JustGiving Japan and Ammado (rest of the world).  This means that once your Twestival Local charity is approved, you will receive specific instructions on how to set this up and link to your blog. This will enable people around the world to contribute to your cause and also a great way to channel straight donations or sponsorship that require a charitable receipt.

To make the most of this, we have organised some online training sessions for organisers in the UK, US and Canada. Details below. It would be great if you could drop by, say hi to the teams and of course ask any questions you may have.
